News
TamRac Ranch is currently on the hunt for
staff! We are looking for a dedicated person willing to commit at least four
hours per day to help us get through the busy show season! If you are
interested, or know anyone who may be interested, please talk to Connie!
TWYRA is interested in having weekly, or even
biweekly riding night for our ladies to get together and have fun! (A chance
to ride with other adults for a change?) Our first try is Friday, February
16th, and we hope to see you all there!
This March, TamRac will be hosting another . . .
Tack Cleaning Party! (Yes, there will be sno-cones
again this year. Also, parents, we will be again offering cold, adult-only
beverages). Your tack is already spotless and shiny? We've got some schooling
tack in need of love! More information to follow!
On Saturday, November 19th, TWYRA and TamRac Ranch
hosted an open house, despite cold temperatures!
TWYRA held it's fall meeting on Saturday, October 29th, and a
great time was had by all. There was a photo op Saturday, November 5th at 4
pm for our adult riders, and we got some great shots (Jeez, Page, would you
finish editing already!)
We
would like to remind everyone that it is very important that TamRac Tack and Equipment is returned to it's rightful and proper place.
There are feed bins labeled for each stall and it is important that these
bins are used for this stall only. Extra bins should be washed after
use. Let's all work together to keep things flowing as smoothly as possible.
On July16th, we held a Fence-Painting event! Thankfully, most of us managed
to get more paint on the fence then ourselves. Most of the horses were
sensible, but some ended up with white noses (particularly a certain large warmblood). We would like to thank everyone who managed
to make it out; we are very grateful for your generosity and elbow-grease!
The weather on the weekend was a
little stormy, but we managed to hold a celebration for Connie's birthday,
anyway! Our "Eats, Treats & Wet Feets"
party was a lot of fun, even if we didn't get get
our feet wet the way we hoped! Thank goodness for a roaring fireplace! (And
Clive's homemade cake was delicious!). Congratulations Connie, we hope this
year brings with it all the success and fulfillment your heart desires.
July
Fourth marked the kick off of TamRac Ranch's Summer
Camps! So far, so good! We apologize for Mother Nature and her swarms of
hungry mosquitoes. I recommend anyone stopping by the ranch bring a healthy
supply of bug spray!
The website, as always is a work in progress - so we thank you for your
patience! We are continually adding new features and revising old ones, so
what didn't work yesterday might work today! We are gearing up to publish a
complete 2011 online student yearbook . . . More information will be made
available after the next couple shows!

TamRac's 2011 foals are
here! TamRac's High Five had a lovely colt on
Saturday, May 7th, and he was followed by a filly for one of our boarders on Monday, May 9th.
Futurity's
Noble Lady had a lovely bay colt on June 7th. His star is so cute!
Quantum
Ebony Lace had a surprise waiting for us when we got home from the first show
of the season! A lovely bright bay filly born June 12th.
On
Thursday, June 23rd, our lovely Xenia surprised us with a lovely bay filly
with chrome!
Monday,
July 4th, Duchess finally decided to grace us with a delicate, very
dark filly! She is the last foal for TamRac Ranch
this year.
Our impromptu
Trail Ride and Barbecue on Saturday, May 20th was a lot of fun and surprisingly, . . . mostly mosquito free. As always the
Blackfoot trails were a lot of fun, and the horses were troopers, even the
Show Divas who somehow got talked into it!

THIS WEEKEND. (Please do not panic!)
Preparations are well under way, we are bathing
and sanding and finishing all those last minute touches! Please be early and
prepared for all your classes! Class schedules have been printed and are
available in the lounge, but horse shows are known for last minute
complications and changes!
Hello,
all, and welcome to . . . SHOW SEASON! Which looks like it is going to start
early this year, with the first show at the end of April! Please have your

planning on attending any breed show is required provide 5 photocopies of the
following memberships:

- Alberta Morgan Horse Association Membership (Mail Only)
TamRac Ranch held our first show meeting on February
4th, up at the house. Thank you to everyone who provided food! There was
more than we could even hope to eat and everything was delicious!
The
new 2012 show schedule is up and posted!
TamRac Ranch is happy to welcome back our riders
from Oklahoma! Results are available on Gaitkeeper! As always, we are very proud of our
horses and riders and their strive for excellence!
On another circuit, Krista and our
hunter/jumper students rocked it at the Amberlea
Harvest show, results available here.
It's never to early to
start planning for next year, right? Okay, hold your groans, but there will
be a show meeting held this fall! Up for discussion, the shows TamRac Ranch is planning to attend next year, volunteer
requirements and positions, deposits, etc! All the good stuff. Once the date
is set, announcements will be posted at the barn so keep your eyes peeled!
Entries are now being finalized for the Alberta Morgan Horse Show! Riders are
being asked to prepare a check list of their attire and equipment so that we
can double check that all riders and horses are properly prepared.
The Western Canadian Championship show in Red Deer was a great time. In
total, TamRac took ten horses, from Legacy's Snow
White to TamRac's Cheeky Cherokee! The weather was
beautiful all weekend - a real first this year!
Things went very smoothly this time around! And it was amazing to see the
real progress our riders have made. Sorry Mackenzie, I have to give everyone
a photo demonstration!

As usual, I can't thank our staff, parents and volunteers enough for their
support. We couldn't do this without you. If anyone is wondering "Just
how much work can a horse show possibly be?",
well, you are more than welcome to stop by at the Alberta Morgan Horse Show.
. . Wear old clothes.
To make up for losing our Fun show
this year, TamRac Ranch attended the 2011 Open
Youth Show hosted by the Alberta Morgan Youth Club on Sunday, August 14th at
the Lakedell Agricultural Complex. We had a total
of nine horses and eleven riders! To cut costs and allow more riders to
experience showing, this was a Volunteer Show: riders used their own tack and
there was no paid grooms, only cheerful and willing volunteers!
Everyone at the show did well and had a blast! For some horses, this was
their very first show; Stoney and Oreo were
superstars!
All of our riders demonstrated their skills with enthusiasm and great sportmanship! Special mentions include Mackenzie who won
walk-trot high point, as well as, Amy who struggled with her enthusiastic
jumping pony on the flat! (They had the best costume ever, though!). Kendra
was an equitation pro, and we are super excited to
have her riding for TamRac in Red Deer.
The Summer Classic Horse Showat Blacklands Ranch in Ft
Saskatchewan was a lot of fun! Horses that attended included Shadow's Quantum
Sunbeam, Legacy's Snow White, TamRac's Noble
Aurora, GVA Noble Bliss, GVA Captiva Command, TamRac's Final Notice and TamRac's
Cherokee!
At first, it looked like the rain curse was going to continue, but thankfully
we got to see some nice summer Sun by Sunday (Coincidence?). It was a little
bit of a rocky start, but once we got the hang of it, everything went
smoothly.
This was MacKenzie and Abby's first show, and they
did very well in a large Walk-Trot division! Connie was also able to get in a
few classes on Snowy! Page tried her hand at Western for the first time and
had a blast! Especially funny; the versatility class, aka the
"strip" class.
Once again, TamRac Students, Parents, and Staff
went the extra mile to help each other out. Everyone should be so proud of
the support and dedication that was present at this show! Special thanks go
out to Rachel and Gregor who experienced a steep
learning curve, but were instrumental in prepping both Riders and Horses for
their classes.

Due
to the wet and crummy weather, the Kel-J-Do show
was been postponed until July. Unfortunately, due to scheduling constraints
with the Summer Classic horse show, TamRac Ranch is
not attending at this time. We are anticipating attending next year, and hope
that Kel-J-Doe has a wonderful and successful show
this year!
The Red Deer Classic Show at Westerner Park was
wet and rainy, but we managed to have a good time anyway! TamRac
students outdid themselves.
Highlights
included:
- TamRac's Family Member Volunteer Recruitment Program!
- Rain! And more rain!
- The opportunity to provide Connie with vocal
backup after she lost her voice!
- Ziah's walk/trot classes on Tiva, can we all
say "awwwww!"? So cute!
- Timed and condensed instruction on proper
hair-dos and construction!
- Five-Gaited Saddlebred
classes!
- Hayley's Brilliant Show Finale!
- Page's Terrible Pajama Day!
Aurora Arabian Show at Amberlea Meadows
CONGRATULATIONS
TO ALL TAMRAC RIDERS, PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS! We made it through the first
show of the year! And like all first shows, this one was chaotic and crazy!
There were mistakes and mishaps and a few faux pas, but we struggled through.
Every single person made us so proud with the way they faced this challenge
and persevered. I think everyone made a constant effort to help each other as
much as they could, and it showed!
SPECIAL
KUDOS GO OUT TO:
Angie
Ferris, who managed the grooming for fifteen horses, despite constant
turnover of grooms, large class sizes, and frequent tack changes!
Judy
Cook, who came to see a horse show and spent most of her time looking at
hooves, tails and tack! Thank you so much for
volunteering your time and perspiration to the cause!
Simone
Logan, who rode no less than four horses in three different outfits. We were
exhausted just watching you go!
Leanne
and Jordan; who rode horses that were young, green and perhaps not as
well-behaved as they should have been with grace and poise!
Sadly,
our plans to attend the Parkland Arabian Show were cancelled due to
the recent outbreak of EHV-1.
Let's
not to forget to congratulate our riders from last season, especially our
talented riders; Simone Logan who won four National Champion awards and
Emilie Wendland who managed to snag SIX National
Champion awards! These riders are exceptionally talented and exceptionally
hard-working! (Read more in the Beaumont
Local Paper)
